When I was a kid, I wanted to be an actress.
Fast-forward to 2021, my acting dreams long since past, and I'm frustrated. I'd finished another OMG get me off of ClickFunnels reclamation project. And I wrote a rant blog post. About ClickFunnels.
I SEO'd the heck out of it and promoted it. It's in the top 10 for 'ClickFunnels reviews' and occasionally bounces to page 1 for 'ClickFunnels' (I'm sure they love that, LOL.)
Then, I moved on. When I got a LinkedIn message from a Norwegian documentary filmmaker in 2022, I thought it was a joke. ... but when I researched him, he checked out.
And that's how I ended up in Click the Link Below, a documentary about online marketing, ClickFunnels, hustle culture, and (sadly) bro marketing scams.

I Have a Filmmaker in My House
A Portland, OR, filmmaker contracted by the director came to my house. He walked around for a while and decided the best place to film was in my basement.
Which was of course the one place I didn't think they'd film. You can see my husband's desk and Idaho Vandals chalkboard in the background.
There were lights everywhere and two microphones.
We grabbed some firewood to prop my feet up so I could sit up straight.
Then, just like we did throughout COVID, we popped open a laptop, and I talked with the director for about an hour about ClickFunnels, online marketing, influencers, and the issues I see with the overall online landscape.
After the interview, we filmed some b-roll in my office: scenes working, typing, my office setup.
And that was that. I never heard another word.
Occasionally, I'd conduct searches and look for updates.
And now, it's fully funded, the director is taking it to festivals, and I have an IMDB page (whaaaaat?!).
So much has happened since filming:
- ClickFunnels has a true competitor in HighLevel (there's a lawsuit, new leadership, they're scaling back the Russell Brunson hero worship (kinda)). The result? Better products, which is good news for you!
- Tai Lopez (interviewed in the film) is accused of running a Ponzi scheme. I didn't know who he was before the film. If you don't know either, here's the video that made him 'YouTube famous':
Don't lie, Tai, it was never about the books brah.
-
Online response to Tai Lopez's downfall has been absolutely brutal. I hope he didn't do it. But if he did, I hope he goes to jail. The schemes have to end at some point.
-
Filming took place when ecommerce came of age: COVID drove business from the couch, which was a fast learning curve for some, and consumers are now more cautious, but still susceptible to scams.
-
AI... has since blasted on the scene. And you could say it's superseded funnels in terms of marketing talk.
... So yeah, a lot has changed since 2022.
But the film still slaps.
Why? Because tactics and players may change, but the sleazy get-rich-quick online bro marketing schemes remain a constant.
That's why I'm so proud of my role in the film.
I'm the voice of reason.
It was an enormous risk for me. There are lots of big names and high-flyers in this film, and what I have to say runs counter to their narrative.
In the days following filming, I was very anxious because I didn't know how they would use my clips. I worried that I'd walked out on a limb only to have it sawed off behind me.
I decided that, regardless of how it was used, it was an honor to be included, and even if I ended up getting blasted, at least I spoke my truth.
Turns out, the filmmakers were also high-integrity people.
The film is a fair, brutally honest depiction and should be required viewing for entrepreneurs because it offers a glimpse into the world of online marketing through the eyes of the director, who buys a $7500 course from Akbar Sheikh hoping to raise money to fund his filmmaking.
The film lets you weigh the risks (and rewards) of online influencers and marketers for yourself.
But the message from me is the same:
- They're telling you what you want to hear (it's so easy, you only need one simple trick to succeed)
- They prey on people with a short runway
- There are no shortcuts
I'll beat the drum until the day I die: Marketing can (and should) be ethical.
Click the Link Below is streaming on Plex starting October 17, 2025.
